Can't Stop Coughing? Stop a Cough in It's Tracks - How to Control a Cough During A Cold

I have a cold. I have had it for a week now. It started as an annoying sore throat and moved into post nasal drip and a cough this past Wednesday. I really hate getting any kind of respiratory thing going because I am asthmatic. Once I start coughing, it seems I cannot stop. That annoying tickle and slightly productive cough wakes me up at 2 a.m., leaving both me and my BF tired in the morning. There are tons of cough syrups and remedies on the market, but the fact is they can't instantly stop a cough like this cool little trick can. Plus, this one is super cheap. Just $1 is all it takes. Intrigued? Read on...

Here is all you need (yes, just 2 items):

  1. 1 bottle of Medicated Chest Rub (Vic's Vapor Rub or Generic Equivalent like I have from the 99 Cent Store)
  2. 1 Pair Socks

Directions to Instant Relief:

Step 1: Slather some of the Medicated Chest Rub onto the soles of your feet.
Step 2: Put on a pair of socks
Step 3: Got back to to sleep or, if you have to be up, put on some shoes, and enjoy not coughing.

I have no idea why it works. I am guessing some ancient Chinese Medicine Man could explain the nerves in our feet are magically connected to our coughing bone, but I could really not give a care as long as I am not hacking all damn night. So, there you have it. Just say Thank You and go back to sleep. Your welcome!

Oh, and if you like to be organic, or make your own, please visit A Girl Named Michael's blog. She has a recipe here for making home made vapor rub.

*P.S. I am not a doctor and I am not dispensing medical advice so don't bother trying to sue me (I ain't got nothin' anyway, unless you want to take over my student loans to which I say "feel free"). Don't be dumb, go to a doctor if you have a cough that isn't just your everyday run-of-the-mill cold.
